Support Staff

Old MacDonald's wouldn't be the same without the help and guidance of our amazing support staff. Bringing a wealth of knowledge, skills and expertise to our team we are able to better support our tamariki to have access to a responsive and engaging environment.

With the addition of optional swimming lessons, horse riding and the behind the scenes work keeping us warm, fed and watered the kaiako are able to thrive in their teaching element and focus on delivering the best learning opportunities possible

What's that scrumptious aroma? Just today's lunch, picked fresh from the garden and served up with a big warm smile! Alva is the fairy godmother behind our delicious, nutritious daily meals and the green thumb that tends our abundant vege patch. Her feel-good, upbeat flavour fuels the heart of our centre with wholesome, homegrown meals that give peace of mind to parents and encourage great eating habits for life.

Good humour and experimentation are her secret magic ingredients for getting good food down, and 16 years of homemaking and cooking for her own family of six has given her a wealth of experience to draw on.

Children love experimenting in the kitchen too, and Alva's little helpers often assist her with counting, colours, and kitchen safety.Away from the kitchen Alva and husband Steven are kept extremely busy with children Harrison, Finn, Summer and Parker, with weekends spent touring the country's finest beaches to support Harrison's New Zealand Beach Volleyball team.

Georgia is our swimming Kaiako here at Old MacDonald’s… Georgia’s infectious, bubbly and uplifting personality makes swimming lessons fun and exciting for our tamariki.

In her spare time, Georgia loves to get back on the farm at her parents place and get stuck in! - She truly does have a big Old Macs heart. Georgia has had extensive training at Hilton Brown and she is also nearly a fully qualified teacher aswell, which is an amazing asset to our centre.

Watch this space for some exciting photos and videos of Georgia and the children getting stuck into lessons for another term when the weather heats up!

Kate is our adoring Horse-Riding Instructor that immerses herself with nature and her love for animals. Kate’s nurturing and gentle presence makes her the perfect person to teach our Tamariki the importance of caring for animals.

Kate moved to New Zealand at the start of 2018 after being born and raised in the English countryside. Kate has had extensive experience with animals and has been working with horses for most of her adult life.

We are so excited to welcome Kate to our Old MacDonalds family and love the relationships that she is creating with our children and horses.
