Waitakaruru

Our bespoke learning space for pēpi up to the age of 2 years old

Our wish for all children with us in Waitakaruru is simple: to feel loved and seen for exactly who they are, to feel empowered and safe to take risks, make mistakes, and try again, and to step into their potential as dynamic and inspired life-long learners. We aspire to create a culture deeply embedded in kindness and mana-enhancing ways of being with one another. We carefully craft an environment that nurtures creativity, resilience and growth mindsets, a space that speaks to each child’s unique learning journey. We uphold the spirit of ako, of teaching and learning simultaneously, acknowledging the depth of learning we gain from our tamariki every day. We care about family and whakapapa and feel privileged to walk alongside you during this hugely formative time of your child’s learning journey.

Decades of research has shown that play is crucial to physical, intellectual, and social-emotional development at all ages. This is especially true of the purest form of play: the unstructured, self-motivated, imaginative, independant kind, where children initiate their own games and even invent their own rules
